Built for South African businesses

Your prices are
drifting.

A few percent at a time, one line at a time, until it is thousands a month. Pricedrift reads every supplier invoice, compares each line to what you usually pay, and tells you what the drift is costing you — in rands, not jargon.

R840 extra on one line of one invoice

That is what price drift looks like.

One supplier, one item, a few percent at a time — nobody notices until it is thousands a month. Pricedrift keeps a running record of what you usually pay for everything you buy, compares every new invoice line against it, and flags the moment a price moves — with the rand amount, the percentage, and what the last eight invoices looked like.

Example finding — your numbers will be your own.

ANALYSE

Know what you usually pay.

Every line of every invoice becomes a price you can look up. Pricedrift normalises the descriptions — SUNFLR OIL 5LT J/BRAND and Sunflower oil 5L become one item — so a thing you buy has one price history, however many ways your suppliers spell it.

  • Per supplier. What you have spent with them, what you usually pay for each line they send, and which way it has moved.
  • Per item. One catalogue across every supplier, so you can see who charges what for the same thing.
  • Per finding. The usual price, this price, the percentage, and the last eight invoices behind it — the numbers, not just the verdict.
SNAP IT

Photo in,
line items out

Snap a crumpled invoice with your phone or drop in a PDF. Every line — item, quantity, price, VAT — lands clean and structured.

CHECK IT

Every invoice,
SARS-checked

Valid VAT number, the 15% adding up, all the tax invoice requirements — checked automatically, with plain-language fixes to send your supplier.

CATCH IT

Dupes, spikes
and bad sums

The same invoice paid twice, forty-eight cases where you usually order twelve, a line that does not multiply — each flagged with the rand impact, so you know what it is costing you.

Three steps. No spreadsheets.

1

Snap or upload

Phone camera, PDF, or a photo from WhatsApp — multi-page is fine.

2

We read and check it

Line items extracted, SARS rules checked, prices compared to your history.

3

You get findings in rand

Not warnings — amounts. What it costs, why, and what to ask your supplier.

Scan it at the
back door.

The delivery arrives, you snap the invoice, and by the time it's packed away every line is read, checked against SARS rules, and compared to what you usually pay.

Fair questions

Is my data safe?

Yes. Your invoices and everything we read from them stay inside your workspace — encrypted in transit and at rest, and never shared with anyone. Benchmarking against other businesses is strictly opt-in, anonymised both ways, and off by default. POPIA isn't a footnote for us; it's how the product is built.

What can I upload?

PDFs and photos — JPG, PNG or WebP, up to 20 MB each. Multi-page PDFs are fine, and so is a slightly crooked phone photo taken at the back door. If a document really is unreadable we say so rather than guessing at it.

How accurate is the reading?

Good, and honest about when it isn't. Every extraction has to fit a strict structure or it counts as a failure — there's no half-read invoice quietly entering your price history. Anything the model was unsure of lands in a review queue with the uncertain fields marked, so you check the one line that was smudged rather than re-typing the whole invoice.

Can my bookkeeper use it too?

Yes. Every plan includes team members, and everyone in a workspace sees the same invoices, findings and supplier history. Your bookkeeper gets the VAT checks already done.

What makes a tax invoice SARS-valid?

For anything over R5 000: the words "tax invoice", the supplier's name, address and VAT number, your name and address, a serialised invoice number, the date, a description and quantity of what you bought, and the VAT shown correctly. Between R50 and R5 000 the rules are lighter, and under R50 no tax invoice is required at all. Pricedrift checks the right set for each invoice — and uses the VAT rate that was in force on the invoice date, which matters for anything from before April 2018.
